For many years, and hopefully many to come, the Destral Family made their way to the top of high society unlike any other before them. Coming from a long line of pirates, rogues, wastrels and any other unlikely of sorts, they are not what you might call "proper beings".
In fact, the title of Lady Destral, founder of the Destral Family was more or less a fluke on the French Queen's part.
Natolie Destral was once a magnificent pirate, commanding the high seas on her ship, "Maiden's Voyage" after the fair and beautiful Rolina Shin'd'ar succumbed to gangrene. On a fairly dark afternoon, when the seas were rough and the sky was clouded over with the starting of a storm, a merchant's ship was sailing by "Maiden's Voyage" on way to the northern lands, perhaps to deposit it's goods.
Of course, Natolie being who she is, commanded her crew to attack the ship, taking hostage two persons.. one being a fair maiden (who she soon names "Katalise") and the other the ship's captain (his name still unknown to this day).
Having a weak spot of seafaring maiden's, she proposed the woman join her crew to experience "wonders and treasures beyond her imagining".
For many years, Natolie lived in a rather peaceful time, pillaging villages and looting unwary ships, until one day she was attacked by a fellow pirate ship, manned by the dreaded Barbarossa Brothers. They boarded "Maiden's Voyage", killed half her crew, stole her gold and gems, and kidnapped Katalise.
Seeking revenge, Natolie hired a new crew, repaired her ship and went after the Brothers. The pursuit took nearly half a year, but once she caught up to the scalliwags, she killed the Brothers, and took back what was "rightfully" hers.
Unfortunately for Katalise her true identity was revealed to Natolie as the French Queen, Anne of Brittany. Natolie, appalled at being lied to for so long threated to kill the Queen there on the spot. However, as Anne begged for mercy she promised that Natolie would be rewarded beyond her imaginings, she would no longer be sought after on the seas by the Queen's Armada.
Tempted, Natolie brought the Queen back to France, where Anne kept her promise, dubbing Natolie "Lady" in front of the royal court and gifting her a castle on the edge of her rein.
And thus, Chateau de Destral was born.
